A reproducible resource that contains lessons for students in Grades 1, 2, and 3 to learn a variety of skills involved in understanding what is being read in a straightforward manner. This approach to once-a-week lessons teaches reading a variety of formats including environment print and non-books, sequencing and organizing information (plot diagrams, etc.), inference and context cues, cause and effect, following written directions, literature study and parts of a story, comparisons and contrasts, facts and opinions, retelling and reporting (“book reports”). These simple lessons can be prepared once for all three years, put together in one place (such as your own binder or a board with “pockets”) and used year after year. Easy-to-teach multi-grade levels but still have assignments suited to each grade. The appendix contains Biblical principles for this subject area.
Note: Most of the content of this book is being rearranged and updated within our newer Let Me Read Step 3, 4, and Reading Sticks 5 curriculum.
