This blog section is a place for sharing with you little devotional thoughts, old Sunday School-style lessons I’ve taught, links to family-friendly sermons, and links to more websites that offer good Christian education curriculum.
I wanted to begin with this general post as the foundation to what will follow.
To begin, let’s define “walking by faith”.
Most of you are parents who have seen first-hand, a toddler who is, for the lack of a better word, toddling, as he or she is beginning to walk – first leaning one way or the other, beginning to fall, sticking a leg out to balance or a hand to catch your hand to catch and find security. In fact, all of us when we walk normally, take a foot off the ground, desire our balance to return (quickly!), and depend on the rest of the step to prevent us from stumbling. Yes, there is a lot of dependence involved in walking. Really, it is a picture of faith. Of dependence on God to hold us up.
We would not want a toddler just to take one step or two and then quit. Walking is best when it is steady, one step securely after another as it grows to become a natural thing in life. Of yes, remember that walking is rather futile if going in the wrong direction. Running is fine for those times of needing to race of course, but it too has a steadiness and direction to it. Our lives should aim to reflect a steady faith in our God, heading in the right direction!
If you have not yet committed your life to God in trusting Him for your spiritual walk, then we encourage you to do so. Until you do, your default action will be to fall down, time after time, because you can’t have your spiritual life healthy without Jesus Christ making you whole. No one can save themselves or live a godly life without Him. But God is the Strength of those who trust in Him. When we rely on His power to live our lives, then we are enabled to steadily walk and grow spiritually. He knows our every need and cares for us more than anyone else ever could. My blog only gets written when I find extra time. There are other websites which do a much better job at having consistently available writings or even offer video content to help Christians to grow in their faith. There are also great resources like books and multi-media which can help you grow, although I want to say here, that the Bible IS complete on its own and you do NOT need to have any other study resource alongside it in order to understand it. God the Holy Spirit will enlighten anyone who seeks to know the truth from the Bible and God is the only Teacher you really need to understand His Word.
It is a nice “extra” to have good Bible study resources to help to encourage you in your walk with God. From time to time, I will put in one link for you that I personally recommend which can provide you much more help and encouragement. (Full disclosure: We do NOT receive any compensation for recommending this website. We may or may not personally agree with every statement Anne makes in writing or speaking at other times (remember, she is not perfect and neither are we), however, this specific series is excellent and helpful for growing in faith so we are sharing this link.) Today’s link suggestion is: Anne Graham Lotz’s video series called “Expecting to See Jesus”. You can see information about it on her website at: https://www.annegrahamlotz.org/products/expecting-see-jesus-dvd-bible-study-leader-kit/
Today, I am grateful for the years of walking with God and seeing His faithfulness in providing my needs and growing my understanding of Who He is.
The life that I now live, I live by the faithfulness of the Son of God Who loved me and gave Himself for me! (ref. Galatians 2:20)
