Here are just a few ideas…
Bulletin board strips along the ceiling of a bedroom, out of reach of younger siblings
Hallway: hang up posters or pocket charts
Doors, especially a bathroom door for posters…Why not learn while waiting a turn to use the facilities!
Presentation boards with lesson assignments and helps—it folds up and slides along furniture when not in use. If pulled out and set up on a floor, it can double as not only a learning center but also a “house” for a toddler to peek around. By the way, our Creative Writing for Primaries and Songs, Riddles, and Poetry curriculum books are based on this space-saving idea.
Cosmetic hanging bags—the kind that has zippers and pockets in them and that can hang from the back of a door or on a wall. Store art/craft supplies or math manipulatives in the compartments.
Large diaper bag with many zippers and pockets—I have put most of my art supplies in one. Then it becomes just one thing to pull out (and put away) for an art lesson. (Our curriculum, Arts for Grades 1 to 8, have the lessons organized according to the types of supplies that need to be pulled out for that day.)
Kitchen cupboards—move some of your less-used items to another area of your home (e.g. basement) and use the space to put things you use on a regular basis. Example: a playdough drawer, board games on shelves, divided slots
in shelves for construction paper.
