What Do We Offer in Bundles?
Physical Books
We offer some bundles of storybooks or other books in our online SHOP. Go to the “Storybook” category on the sidebar to see what is currently available.
Downloadable, Printable Curriculum
We also have listed, in a “grade/level” arrangement, the below titles which, if they are linked to our shop, you can use to “Build-Your-Own” bundle! These titles are ones which Peppermint Stick Learning Co. publishes. We sometimes refer to these as “PSLC Curriculum”. (Note: There are a few printed, non-downloadable versions of our curriculum also included in this offer, as marked.)
This offer applies to individual homeschool family and single classroom usage, according to our EULA (“End-User License Agreement“). If you are wanting a license for multiple families or classrooms, please contact us directly.
What Might You Need This Upcoming Year?
Important to remember as you read through the below titles –
Many of these titles are “multi-grade” meaning that they include a few levels WITHIN THE SAME resource! This means you would use the SAME title with the same students MORE than just one school year! And it also means that a few levels can learn from the SAME book at the same time! This method of teaching is very helpful for both self-paced learning for individuals AND for situations where a group of students are in various grades. In other words, these kinds of resources help in homeschool situations and multi-grade classrooms or in tutoring special students!
Beginner Reading Literacy Bundle
- Let Me Read: Steps 1, 2, and 3 Combos – This page has these titles already in a bundle with a discount. (And yes, the coupon code can be used for that page too, even though the titles are already bundled there.)
K-3 Science Bundle for Multiple Unit Studies
- PSLC Science K-3 – “scienceps” is an extra coupon code for an additional 5% off if you purchase 3 or more of the science titles which published by Peppermint Stick Learning Company Inc.! The basic instructions for how-to easily divide these titles into a unit study format can be found at this blog post here.
Junior Kindergarten bundle titles
- Beginner Math Sticks
- Let Me Read: Step 1 (downloadable version or the printed version while quantities last)
- Tell Me: Modelled Writing for the Very Young – the “Tell Me Cards” section might be fun for some 4 year olds. Otherwise, this title might not be useful until senior kindergarten or grade 1, depending on the child’s interests.
- Does It Belong? Getting Reading for Math and Reading (must be shipped, is not downloadable, while quantities last)
- Beginner Printing with Fine Motor Skills Fun
- Be Willing or My First Social Studies
- Beginner Science, Health, and Technology
- and/or…
- Preparing for School Package (includes Designing a Home Preschool) – This is a “readiness” resource for parents to help organize topics and skills for early learning from age 2 until the child begins “more school” in kindergarten or grade 1, whatever time-frame the family decides.
Senior Kindergarten bundle titles
- Does It Belong? Getting Reading for Math and Reading
- Beginner Math Sticks
- Let Me Read: Step 2 if already finished the level of Step 1. Otherwise, choose Let Me Read: Step 1.
- Tell Me: Modelled Writing for the Very Young
- Beginner Printing with Fine Motor Skills Fun
- Be Willing or My First Social Studies (choose one)
- Beginner Science, Health, and Technology
Grade 1 bundle titles
- Math Sticks 1 – Use this for a full year of math. Start it if a student already knows how to count to 30, knows the months of the year and days of the week, basic shapes, basic time, and can add and subtract 0-5.
- If the student isn’t ready yet, use Beginner Math Sticks, especially if this is the first year of math; use it for the first half of the year or until the student grasps most of the concepts and then Math Sticks 1 for the second half of the year. If that means that some of Math Sticks 1 is left for “grade 2”, that is fine! Remember to self-pace the learning according to the student’s understanding and enjoyment!
- Let Me Read: Step 3 (if already finished the level of Let Me Read: Step 2.
- Otherwise, choose Let Me Read: Step 1 if this is the student’s first year of schoolwork or Let Me Read: Step 2 if the student is not reading primer books and “easy picture books” well yet.)
- Remember to self-pace the learning of the skill of reading to the individual student! Learning should be comfortable, not overwhelmingly challenging. If you have a struggling reader, simply slow down. If you have an eager reader, you can combine lessons if you like and expand step 3 with more chapter books/novel studies. Our curriculum is highly flexible for how it gets used!
- It is totally fine if Step 3 is done later than grade 1 if that is the direction where the child’s language development is. For example, if you started homeschooling from a more “classical” background where the student has perhaps a good grasp of technical phonics but has not read lots of “easy books” yet, but is generally in “grade 2-4” already, then you would not want to skip over Step 3. Step 3 builds reading fluency skills and broadens a student’s interest in how reading opens many doors to learn in various subject areas. The first three books in the Let Me Read series are foundational! (The rest of our Reading curriculum will build on those but aren’t as “foundational”.) So take whatever time YOUR family needs – there is no rush!
- Gingham and Calico Spelling (Grade 1) – This is the SAME as what is already within Let Me Read: Step 3. But it can be available separately for families who want the spelling lessons without our reading lessons. Currently we have a few paper copies of our spelling programs which you can contact us directly for if you’re interested. (I hope to add the e-book version to our online shop in the near future.)
- Phonics is Fun! Unit 1 (Consonants) – This is an option to begin in grade 1, especially if there is an older sibling also learning phonics since there are lessons they can do together. It does coordinate with phonics lessons within Let Me Read: Step 3, however, it is not critical to have Phonics is Fun! units in grade 1.
- Phonics is Fun! Unit 2 (Vowels) – This is an option to begin in grade 1, especially if there is an older sibling also learning phonics since there are lessons they can do together. It does coordinate with phonics lessons within Let Me Read: Step 3, however, it is not critical to have Phonics is Fun! units in grade 1.
- Printing Lessons for Primaries – This resource is for both the grade 1 and grade 2 years.
- Creative Writing for Primaries if child is ready to move on from Tell Me: Modelled Writing for the Very Young – Some children could be but others might like another year or two with the “Tell Me” curriculum. Also, if the student has an older sibling using Creative Writing for Primaries, then it would likely make sense to use the same resource for both children of course.
- Be Willing or My First Social Studies
- Science, Health, and Technology Level A – Use this if the student is already reading simple sentences and able to begin copying simple sentences for notes. Otherwise, consider using Beginner Science, Health, and Technology instead.
- Multi-Grade Art Projects (downloadable) or Art for Grades 1 to 8 with Pencil Points (which must be shipped, while quantities last)
A note about PHONICS in Grade 1 – In my opinion, there is sufficient phonics introduced within Let Me Read Steps 1 and 2, and even Step 3. I “might” assign a grade 1 child of mine a small portion of the “Phonics is Fun!” series in grade 1 but I would not usually use Phonics is Fun! for the kindergarten age (unless the child wants to “help” an older sibling with his/her work). I would more so use this series for grades 2-3 or perhaps grade 4 (or review after that if a student needed to repeat something). Phonics is something which I like to first teach in actual reading and listening activities, then distinguishing between sounds (e.g. with sorting or colouring), and then later, written phonics lessons.
Grade 2 bundle titles
- Math Sticks 2 – Use this for a full year of math. Start it if a student already understands (or easily learns) how to count to 100, knows basic shapes, matches and distinguishes items well, and can generally grasps the skills for the fact families of addition and subtraction up to -+12. (I realize modern-day math curriculum usually teaches up to +-9 instead and that is totally fine if that is the student’s background.)
- If the student isn’t ready yet – use or even repeat some of the Math Sticks 1 pages alongside the “easier” units (e.g. Patterning, Measurement, Geometry, Graphing) in Math Sticks 2. Again, self-paced learning is best! (If desired, the multiplication and fractions units of Math Sticks 2 may be left until grade 3.)
- Let Me Read: Step 4 is not fully available yet. However, the spelling portion of it is completed. (See note below.) The general gist of Let Me Read: Step 4 is have the spelling portion, a handful of extra practice of phonics to reinforce the below Phonics Units, and the various reading comprehension activities. (In the meantime, I simply suggest that you discuss the story titles you’re reading together.) If you miss “Step 4” but still have spelling and phonics lessons while reading real children’s books and chapter books together, this is not a problem at all!
- Denim and Canvas Spelling (Grade 2) – This will be the SAME as what would already be within Let Me Read: Step 4. But I hope to make it also available separately for families who want the spelling lessons without our reading lessons. We have no paper copies of grade 2 spelling left. (I hope to add the e-book version to our online shop in the near future.)
- Phonics is Fun! Unit 1 (Consonants) – self-pace for whatever level the child is at.
- Phonics is Fun! Unit 2 (Vowels) – self-pace for whatever level the child is at.
- Phonics is Fun! Units 3+ – These are not published yet. They deal with the skills of Consonant Blends and Digraphs, Plurals and Possessives, Inflectional Endings (s, ed, ing), Prefixes, and Suffixes.
- Printing Lessons for Primaries – This resource is for both the grade 1 and grade 2 years.
- Creative Writing for Primaries – This resource is for a few grades (e.g. grades 1-3/4).
- Our Big World and People or Canadian Communities or My First Social Studies (choose one of these for the year)
- Science, Health, and Technology Level B
- Multi-Grade Art Projects or Art for Grades 1 to 8 with Pencil Points (which must be shipped, while quantities last)
Grade 3 bundle titles
- Canadian Communities or Our Big World and People (choose one)
- Pioneer Studies – a history option for young students, especially if you live in Ontario, Canada. (This resource must be shipped, while quantities last.)
- Math Sticks 2 – You can use this resource if your student is not yet carrying or borrowing well for addition, subtraction and/or if your student does not know the multiplication tables. Our curriculum goes to “times 12”.)
- We do not offer a math curriculum for grade 3 at the present time. However, the skills I suggest to be considered in grade 3 would be:
- repeating multiplication tables (for reinforcement purposes), working with division facts (up to dividing by 12), equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators, perimeter and area, reading and making charts and graphs, metric linear measurement in common units (mm, cm, m, km) and easy conversion between cm and m, etc.), basic metric measurement for weight (mg, g, kg), place value up to 9000s, logic fun, patterning skills, adding and subtracting money with decimals.
- You can also see the page “What Resources Do You Use…” for suggestions for what to do with math.
- We do not offer a math curriculum for grade 3 at the present time. However, the skills I suggest to be considered in grade 3 would be:
- Reading Sticks: Step 5 is not published yet. It would have the grade 3 spelling lessons, a review of literacy skills (“how-to” read), and the various reading comprehension activities. We have a very small amount of an older resource available while quantities last (must be shipped) which has the original reading comprehension lessons in it for grades 1-3; you’re welcome to contact us directly if you’re interested.
- Also, if the student is not yet reading children’s novels, you might want to consider Let Me Read: Step 2, which is our recommendation for struggling readers.
- Handwriting Lessons Designed for Grade 3 – introduces reading and writing in cursive styling.
- Creative Writing for Primaries – This resource is for a few grades (e.g. grades 1-3/4).
- Science, Health, and Technology Level C
- Multi-Grade Art Projects or Art for Grades 1 to 8 with Pencil Points (which must be shipped, while quantities last)
Grades 4-8+ bundle titles
For other suggestions of good resources for this level (e.g. science, reading, math, etc.), please go to the page “What Resources Do You Use For This Subject?”. (Many are not listed here because those are not part of the bundle deal.)
Writing (composition):
- Songs, Riddles, and Poetry (downloadable or physical book while quantities last) This includes all grade levels however, I personally prefer to use this resource more in grades 4-11 rather than the primary levels so I listed it in this section.
- Writing Stories, Letters, Reports, Essays, and Speeches – is our writing curriculum for years of writing in grades 4/5-12! For grades 4/5, I might still use Creative Writing for Primaries since I still have a student in primary levels and it’s OK to use that resource instead for the grade 4/5 interest level! (But I would expect longer and better pieces of writing from the older student.) Again, self-pace the learning to meet the student’s level and enjoyment!
Writing (penmanship):
Socials (socials, history, geography):
- Pictorial Bible History Cards
- Bible People Forms
- Ancient Civilizations Lesson Outlines
- Making Maps of Canada
- Family, Government, and Society – temporarily unavailable due to updating
- Organizing Canadian History: Help for Grades 5-8+
Art:
- Multi-Grade Art Projects or Art for Grades 1 to 8 with Pencil Points (which must be shipped, while quantities last)
