This is the updated edition of Art for Grades 1-8 (2019). It does NOT include the “Pencil Points” feature from the original edition. With our new edition, the full-colour examples were taken from the back of the book and put in with their corresponding lessons. A few additional activities are mentioned or enhanced in explanation or with an internet link. There are also a couple of pages of ideas for teaching basic drawing/sketching techniques (but not detailed sketches). Organizational help is also given for families who wish to use this 32 week curriculum but divide the topics into 4 years as per our newer “Four Year Rotation Plan“.
Learn to use crayons, paint (finger-paint, tempera, watercolour), chalk, oil pastels, pen and ink, glue and scissors, wood, recycled items, natural items, wax, string, kinds of papers, etc. Activities with sketching, stamping, enlarging, collages, mosaics, 2-D and 3-D paper construction, molding containers, shadows, mixing, using colour, line, texture, and design, artistic printing, photography, etc.. Art terms and techniques are included in a test-like format (2 pages per grade). Weekly lessons are arranged for easy multi-grade teaching by focusing on the same or similar art supplies but varying with the skill level. Tips and patterns, lists, sample photographs of art projects… our art curriculum is a packed-full resource with 8 YEARS of projects, especially written with a busy mom in mind!
Print it and place it in a binder or bind along the top and hang it up like a weekly planner! This curriculum is flexible and fun to use! 90 pages, mostly black ink but has some colour ink for the examples and one pattern.
